Overview
We completed a 2,100 m² roof refurbishment at Millstream West in the energy sector. Tasked with replacing a failing warm roof over an active building, we needed a high-performance waterproofing system that wouldn’t disrupt operations below.
The Challenge
The roof was split into two distinct zones: one packed with air handling units (AHUs), cabling, pipework, and ducting, the other housing multiple PV panels. Saturated insulation and restricted access in the plant zone made refurbishment tricky. Crucially, the offices beneath remained fully occupied throughout, so low-odour materials and tight logistics were essential.
Our Solution
We specified and installed WestWood’s Weproof 264 low-odour PMMA waterproofing system to ensure the workspace stayed comfortable for occupants. In the congested plant area, we partnered closely with M&E contractors to navigate around machinery and ductwork. Damaged insulation was replaced with reduced-thickness boards, topped with waterproof cement board, and coated with Wecryl 420 for extra protection. In the less obstructed southern zone, we used mechanical airflow to keep air circulation optimal and expedite works without compromising safety.
The Results
The 2,100 m² roof was fully waterproofed without interrupting business operations.
Low-odour product maintained a clean, working environment underground.
Tailored insulation and detailing preserved the functionality around plant infrastructure.
