Overview
We refurbished the failing copper-faced roof of English Martyrs Church in Wembley using Langley’s TA-20(CF) insulated system. The project restored waterproofing, preserved heritage character, and delivered a modern, fire-compliant copper finish with minimal disruption.

The Challenge
The church’s iconic copper-covered conical tower and roof had been gradually weakening. Water penetration was compromising the building fabric, and the original copper-faced felt was failing. We needed a system that would protect the structure, preserve the aesthetic, and meet modern fire and insulation standards — all within a heritage context.
Our Solution
We installed Langley’s TA-20(CF) Copper Faced Flat Roofing System, the only Broof(t4)-accredited insulated copper roof in Europe, combining long-term durability with a natural copper finish.
The works involved removing failing aprons, repairing the substrate, applying Paradiene membranes with a 3 mm copper foil cap sheet, and carefully shaping drips and complex details for a seamless result. Thanks to the system’s flexibility, we completed the project efficiently despite the roof’s challenging design.
The Results
Complete restoration of the church roof with a modern, durable copper system
Heritage aesthetics preserved with an authentic copper finish
Fire performance (Broof(t4)) and insulation compliance achieved
Long-term protection backed by system guarantee
Precision installation praised as “a shining example” of craftsmanship
