Overview

We carried out a flat roof refurbishment at Albert Dock, a 100+ year-old building opposite London City Airport that now houses luxury apartments. The property required a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution that could withstand the harsh riverside environment while improving insulation and waterproofing.

The Challenge

The existing waterproofing had reached the end of its service life. The building’s location on the River Thames meant the new roof needed to deliver superior weather resistance while also achieving modern thermal performance. Aesthetics were also key - the client, who owns and lives in the building, wanted a finish that complemented the stone façades and regeneration of the area.

Our Solution

We installed Langley’s TA-25 https Flat Roofing System, part of the Elastoflex range. The warm roof build-up included a mechanically fixed isolating layer, 70mm PIR insulation, underlay, and Elastoflex capsheet, finished in dark grey. Detailing around penetrations was highlighted in black and orange to complement the building’s architecture.

The TA-25 system offers a lifespan of 40+ years, Broof(t4) fire performance, LABC assurance, and BBA certification. The installation was completed with minimal waste to landfill by overlaying the existing structure, providing both sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
